Before Davanti’s was born the restaurant served Chinese food on a busy front street at a prim location in North Tyneside. Despite all of the aforementioned benefits, business was slow and a partner joined the business that had good experience in running Italian restaurants. Competition along the Front Street was fierce with two very well established Italians already operating in the area along the very same street. The brief was therefore easy it must be authentic Italian and better than the rest!
The menu was modern Italian cuisine, so we needed to create a modern young feel, the target clientele would be young professional and affluent, therefore we had room to be creative. As ever the budget was extremely tight, so the first test of our creativity was what materials we could re-use to keep the cost down! We achieved our goal by making decisions like re-sanding rather than laying new floors, exposing and painting brick work to give it a rustic feel. We also sourced restored furniture, second hand chairs etc. We then pulled through the modern feel by fitting modern lighting and finishes.
We had a deadline of only 3 weeks and the owners requested many extras once the job started. We were adaptable to build this into our work schedule and re-arrange the open day by only a few days to ensure that we still hit our all important deadline. The owner was very hands on and wanted to be fully involved in the day to day decisions, we were more than happy to work alongside him, and felt he benefited greatly from watching us work closely.
We’re very proud to say that Davanti’s is known as the prime Italian restaurant along the coast of North Tyneside, it’s very busy most evenings and fully booked every weekend. We recommend you to try it although be warned you’ll have to book in advance!
“Quay Shop Fitters provided an excellent professional service from start to finish. They were the most competitive on price, but more than that we felt very confident from our initial interviews that they could a) Keep to the budget b) Hit the opening deadline c) Provide a quality finish that we’d be proud to call our restaurant and business.
The results are terrific for all to see, we’re extremely busy which is a restaurateur’s dream, there are many days where we have to turn people away! We’re very grateful to the work and commitment of Quay Shop Fitters, we’ve earmarked the next project to undertake with them which we hope to start very soon”
